Delta Sigma Theta

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded on January 13, 1913 by twenty-two collegiate women at Howard University. Driven to make a change in the perceptions of African-Americans and women alike, these young ladies became the foundation of an esteemed sisterhood of talented women.
These students had a vision and wanted to use their collective strength to promote academic excellence and to provide assistance to persons in need. The first public act performed by the Founders of Delta Sigma Theta involved their participation on the Women’s Suffrage March in Washington D.C., March 1913.
On February 18, 1930, Delta Sigma Theta was incorporated. Since its creation, Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated has reached new heights. As a non-profit, private organization, Delta Sigma Theta thrives on providing services and programs that will improve the welfare of humans all around the globe.
